In the article, we use a real-world example to demonstrate the potential savings from optimal battery design in various applications: A medium-sized mechanical engineering company can save over 35 percent of its annual electricity costs through the targeted use of a battery storage system – with a payback period of less than five years.

The article also highlights why traditional storage strategies, such as pure self-consumption optimization, often do not fully exploit storage potential and how AI-based algorithms create added value – through dynamic electricity procurement, peak load capping, and the marketing of free capacities on the spot market.
