What we do
We firmly believe that Europe can maintain its industrial strength – if we rethink energy. With volatile electricity markets and unpredictable prices, it becomes increasingly difficult for companies to plan reliably. Many have to purchase electricity precisely when it is most expensive – and as a result, they lose millions every year.
Our mission
We enable battery storage manufacturers, project developers, energy suppliers, and industrial companies to use battery storage in the industry economically, intelligently, and extensively – to make medium-sized businesses and industries independent, competitive, and future-proof through smart energy solutions.
The challenge
Battery storage is a central key to this. However, even though they have the potential to significantly reduce energy costs, decrease CO₂ emissions, and make companies more resilient, they are hardly used in the industry. The reason: storage systems today are mostly operated statically – according to fixed rules, without market intelligence, and without dynamic optimization. As a result, enormous economic potentials remain untapped.

We develop the software that truly makes industrial battery storage intelligent – dynamic, predictive, and economical. With mathematical optimization, machine learning, and precise forecasts, we enable multi-use operation and active energy trading. This transforms storage into a strategic advantage instead of an investment with a long payback period.
Who we are
Lumera was founded by Lena Voß, Simon Wittner, and Leonie Wagner. The three founders met during their studies at the Technical University of Munich and approached the same problem from different perspectives: making energy economically usable.
Across research and practice — including work in Berkeley and Stanford as well as in the battery, software, and tech industries — we repeatedly saw that hardware is not the real limitation. The missing piece is intelligence.
